Who needs J.J. Abrams and his young Enterprise crew?

The new Star Trek doesn’t come out until May 8, but you can catch three of the best classic feature films this weekend at Chandler Cinemas.

Presented by Bookmans, the Repertory Film series includes Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Star Trek III: The Search for Spock and Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home in their glorious 35mm original format. The three movies, released in 1982, ‘84 and ‘86, comprise the story of the Genesis Device and the galaxy-shaking consequences of meddling in Creation. And there are Klingons!

The Wrath of Khan is considered by many to be the best of the Trek feature films, and features the unforgettable Ricardo Montalban — who died early this year – as the villainous superman Khan.

The screenings start at 6 p.m. today, noon Saturday and noon Sunday at Chandler Cinemas, 2140 N. Arizona Ave. The cost is $10 for each daily event of three films.
