For reals. Devastation is the name of a gaming event, tournament and expo descending on the Phoenix Convention Center June 19-21.
This is actually the event’s fifth year. It’s affiliated with the Big Boys & Their Toys expo, so you know it will be massive. What a lineup for Fathers Day weekend!
Tournament titles include Madden NFL 09, Street Fighter IV, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, SoulCaliber IV, Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2, , Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Guiter Hero World Tour and Mario Kart Wii.
Registration for Devastation closes Friday, June 12. The registration fee for the event is $45, which covers all three-days as well as full access to the expo area. Players then pay an additional $10 entry fee for each tournament game that they wish to compete in. The $10 goes fully into the winnings pot to be divided among the top three players in each tournament at a 70/20/10 percent split.
Oh yeah — and it’s BYOC (Bring Your Own Controller).
