‘Starcraft II’ dated, delayed

starcraft_box_artFirst Starcraft fans learn there will be no LAN support for Blizzard’s upcoming Starcraft II so the company can instead push its own Battle.net service. Now they also have Battle.net to blame for waiting longer to play the real-time strategy game.

Blizzard has announced Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty will arrive in the “first half of 2010,” according to Kotaku:

In a statement to the Blizzard community, the developer writes “Over the past couple of weeks, it has become clear that it will take longer than expected to prepare the new Battle.net for the launch of the game.”

The newest incarnation of Battle.net is expected to be ready early next year.

UPDATE: It’s worth noting that Blizzard-Activision’s lackluster revenue is also probably a contributing factor.

    Ok enough drama.

I love Blizzard. They’re one of the best developers out there hands down. But anyone who really thought after 10+ years that Starcraft II was going to come out on time is just silly.
