The third direct-to-DVD movie based on the defunct Sci Fi series Stargate SG-1 will film this summer for a 2010 release, and it will return to the show’s roots by focusing on original star and executive producer Richard Dean Anderson (MacGyver). Claudia Black (Farscape), who joined the cast of SG-1 in its 10th and final season as the roguish Vala Mal Doran, will not be a part of the production. All this according to the well-connected fan site GateWorld (story).

Planet Express crew is back in ‘Futurama: Bender’s Game’November 4th, 2008, 10:49 am by Jayson Peters
I may need to get the cover art of this latest Futurama direct-to-DVD feature printed up as a poster. It’s many visual references to old-school D&D, combined with the clever play on words with Orson Scott Card’s sci-fi epic Ender’s Game, promise much in the way of Groening goodness. Recently, MGM Studios announced he will be directing a new RoboCop movie. While I have mixed feelings on such a matchup, I think Aronofsky will ditch convention and blow us all away with something completely unexpected. According to Variety, the new RoboCop will still have our favorite gun-toting, law-enforcing, sci-fi hero, but the broader story of merging technology and humanity will be told with a noir tone. RoboCop is expected to hit theaters in 2010. Anime makes Batman shine in ‘Gotham Knight’July 10th, 2008, 11:29 am by Scott Kirchhofer
If you’re psyched for The Dark Knight (July 18) and you want to see Batman like you’ve never seen him before, check out Batman: Gotham Knight, a six chapter movie that blends beautiful anime with powerful storytelling — all surrounding one of the darkest and most legendary comic book heroes. ‘Futurama’ goes medieval on its own shiny metal @$&!July 7th, 2008, 10:52 pm by Jayson Peters
Take Futurama, for example. The animated series from The Simpsons creator Matt Groening ended years ago, but it’s been brought back to great effect on DVD. The second direct-to-DVD feature, The Beast With a Billion Backs, just dropped and the third should arrive before year’s end. It’s titled Bender’s Game, in an homage to sci-fi great Orson Scott Card’s novel Ender’s Game. Read the rest of this entry » New Batman anime websiteJune 4th, 2008, 8:56 am by Scott Kirchhofer
Warner Bros. has created a new website to promote Batman: Gotham Knight, the direct-to-DVD (and Blu-ray) anime. According to the website, the DVD will feature “six standalone chapters, each with stylish art from some of Japan’s greatest anime visionaries, weaved together into a larger story that follows Batman through his transition from beginner to The Dark Knight.” The website includes an amazing trailer, production videos, a gallery of photos, wallpapers and more. Batman: Gotham Knight will hit stores on July 8 and The Dark Knight will hit theaters on July 18. I can’t wait! |

He’s been called the Stanley Kubrick of our generation. His movies are artistic, dark and extremely complex. Just watch Requiem for a Dream or The Fountain and you’ll see the genius that is Darren Aronofsky.
