If you’re going to be traveling this holiday season, you can thank Google for the free Wi-Fi.
The ubiquitous tech giant is offering free wireless Internet service at 47 airports and on every Virgin American flight. All you need is a Wi-Fi-enabled laptop or mobile device.
There’s a catch: Google will hit you up for a charitable donation that they will match, up to $250,000. And they’ll probably monitor everything you do and say while online, and record it for posterity or the inevitable government takeover of your life.
But hey, it’s FREE!
Phoenix Sky Harbor is NOT among the participating airports … but they already have free Wi-Fi.

If you were one of the unlucky masses who paid 500 Wii Points, or $5, for the Wii Internet Channel only to later regret that choice when the application was made free for all – rejoice! If you haven’t already deduced from the pulsating blue light that signals a message in your inbox, there should be a nice little 500 point credit waiting for you in the Wii Shop Channel today.
Whatever will you do with those 500 points? Joystiq has some suggestions.
The Internet Channel uses a version of the Opera 9 browser to let Wii owners surf the World Wide Web. It was recently upgraded with Flash support.

Just as back in April, Fry’s Food Stores is sponsoring free general admission this weekend (Oct. 24-26) at the Arizona Science Center.
Special discounted pricing will be offered on four of the Center’s ticketed experiences, including shows in the Dorrance Planetarium, movies in the IMAX Theater, a ride across the Evans Family SkyCycle and entrance into ROBOTS: The Interactive Exhibition.
The science center is also hosting a variety of hands-on demonstrations and activities throughout the weekend that include “Stomach This! A Digestion Demonstration,” “Elephants Toothpaste,” “Super Taster,” “Combustion,” “Static Electricity,” “Seeing Inside the Eye” and more.
In addition to free admission, guests will be able to try free samples of Fry’s products 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
But be on your best behavior — or not — because recruiters from the TV reality show Supernanny will be on site each day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

An embittered rabbi must clear his name of a murder he didn’t commit by finding the real killer before the police catch up with him.

Fresh on the heels of confirming a long-awaited drop in the price of its Wii game console, Nintendo is offering free downloadable games to anyone who buys a DSi handheld system by Oct. 5.
Actually, what they’re doing is crediting you 1,000 Nintendo DSi Points, so you need a DSi Shop account and access to a wireless broadband connection to take advantage of the deal.
The company also announced Thursday that its Wii game Wii Sports Resort, which currently sells for $50 and includes a MotionPlus accessory, would go up in price by $10 on Oct. 12 — but it will now include two MotionPlus units. Score!

Bookmans Entertainment Exchange spends each September raising awareness of the dangers of censorship, taking a stand for the idea that silencing a work just because it is controversial is wrong. To celebrate the campaign this year, the chain of used media stores — with locations in Phoenix and Mesa as well as Flagstaff and Tucson — is hosting a free screening of the controversial cult classic A Clockwork Orange, 8 and 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, at MADCAP Theaters in Tempe.
The 1971 film by Stanley Kubrick and starring Malcolm McDowell is an adaptation of a 1960s dystopian novel by Anthony Burgess. It will be shown in its original 35mm format.
For more information, hit the links above or visit Bookmans at Country Club Drive and Southern Avenue in Mesa or Northern and 19th avenues in Phoenix.

Marvel has begun a new program of posting complete digital version of five comics on their website each week. While I remain partial to the real world dead trees version of comics, this is a great opportunity to check out some titles from the comfort of your own home.
Of this week’s selection, while the Deadpool issue isn’t too shabby, I highly recommend 1602 #1 by comic powerhouses Neil Gaiman and Andy Kubert. I’d also suggest checking out Ultimate Spider-Man #129 next week by the almost-as-good team of Brian Bendis and Stuart Immonen.
Even if you’ve never read Ultimate Spider-Man (or any Spider-Man!) before, it will give you a strong sense of what the book is about without needing to know everyone’s backstory. Besides, Marvel has recently pushed the reset button in the Ultimate Universe and it’s a great time to jump on board if you’ve been thinking about it.

The pointy-hatted folks at Gnome Stew brew up a great little blog about tabletop roleplaying games — you know, Dungeons & Dragons and its ilk. Ultra hardcore nerdy stuff.
But it’s also expensive stuff. The books, dice, miniatures, graph paper, dry-erase boards — it all adds up.
Which is why they Gnome Stew crew is serving up an article that highlights ways to cut the costs — and points out how old-school RPGs can be an inexpensive alternative to other forms of entertainment.

Gamers eager to Dungeon & Dragons Online for free will have to wait a little bit longer. The transition to the no-fee DDO Unlimited, which had been scheduled for next week in North America, has been pushed back to Sept. 9.
“We’ve had a tremendous response to DDO Unlimited from the players and press who are participating in our beta program,” said Fernando Paiz, Executive Producer of DDO Unlimited. “We’ve been holding a series of live events as part of the beta program and have seen an unprecedented level of participation from players. While we are very pleased with the performance of the game and are excited about the response from the players, we are committed to delivering a high-quality experience. We feel that more time is needed to deliver on this commitment. As a result, we are delaying our launch to ensure that we can support the massive increase in players that we are expecting and deliver them a free to play experience like none other.”
