Warner Bros. has created a new website to promote Batman: Gotham Knight, the direct-to-DVD (and Blu-ray) anime. According to the website, the DVD will feature “six standalone chapters, each with stylish art from some of Japan’s greatest anime visionaries, weaved together into a larger story that follows Batman through his transition from beginner to The Dark Knight.” The website includes an amazing trailer, production videos, a gallery of photos, wallpapers and more. Batman: Gotham Knight will hit stores on July 8 and The Dark Knight will hit theaters on July 18. I can’t wait!

New Dark Knight trailer online this Sunday

April 29th, 2008, 3:18 am by Chris "KeL" Adams

If you weren’t one of the lucky individuals able to participate in the Joker’s latest scavenger hunt (and since there was no love for the Phoenix area, you probably weren’t), Whysoserious.com/HappyTrails/ will be your first chance to see the new trailer for The Dark Knight.  Sunday seems so very far away. It’s going to be a loooong week for me.  At least, I’ll have Iron Man to tide me over!

Besides starting a new viral campaign on www.whysoserious.com and showing off a new trailer at the New York Comic Con, the folks behind the highly anticipated Dark Knight released a new poster for the movie. It’s a beautiful scene of glorious destruction that is surely caused by The Joker. Does Batman have what it takes to stop this maniac? We’ll see on July 18!

When I was a kid, we had to play with ACTUAL Legos

I thought the Star Wars video games set in the Lego universe were as cool as it could get, but I was wrong! Lego Indiana Jones AND Lego Batman are on the way to game consoles as well. Lego Indy will feature adventures from Raiders of the Lost Ark, Temple of Doom and The Last Crusade. While Lego Batman will put you in the Caped Crusader’s (or Robin’s!) shoes facing down Gotham’s nastiest villlians. Read the rest of this entry »

The Joker got a fresh coat of paint this week and reminded us why we love his brand of psychotic villainy in the 20th anniversary special hardcover edition of Batman: The Killing Joke. Originally released as a one-shot comic in 1998, The Killing Joke was written by Alan Moore and drawn by Brian Bolland. Among fans of Batman and comics it is considered the greatest Joker story ever told. The new hardcover edition of the book features all-new coloring by Bolland, an introduction by artist Tim Sale and an additional story An Innocent Guy by Brian Bolland previously featured in Batman: Black and White.

Scottsdale believes in Harvey Dent! Security guards, not so much.

March 16th, 2008, 4:45 am by Chris "KeL" Adams

As previously reported in Nerdvana, Scottsdale was the site of Harvey Dent campaign rallies on Saturday.  The first rally of the day was to take place at Indian School and Scottsdale Roads. A late start by the Dent’s campaign staff was compounded by a security guard who refused to let the van set up in the bank parking lot he was patrolling.

Is there no limit to the depths of which Gotham’s political machine will stoop to prevent an honest man from getting his campaign off the ground? Read the rest of this entry »

Harvey Dentmobile in Scottsdale

March 14th, 2008, 3:35 pm by Scott Kirchhofer

The latest internet viral marketing campaign for The Dark Knight has switched gears from it’s focus on the Joker and is now asking fans to show their support for Harvey Dent (played by Aaron Eckhart), the District Attorney hopeful who may have what it takes to save Gotham City from its current state of hightened criminal activity.

The website www.ibelieveinharveydent.com gives fans some nice looking campaign posters (in the form of PDFs) to start, then asks them to go out into public and show off the signs or do something else to support Harvey (like performing a dance or song), and finally upload photos and/or videos to the site. The best videos and pics will then be featured on the site.

But wait, there’s more. The promotional campaign gets more “real” on Saturday (March 15) when a car, van or bus (they don’t really say) will appear in Scottsdale to rally supporters.

Can’t wait for The Dark Knight July 18 release? Wanting more Batman in your life? Do you like anime? If so, you and I are in for a real treat. Two of my greatest passions, Batman and anime, join forces on July 8 with the release of Batman: Gotham Knight on DVD and Blu-ray. The movie will be composed of six shorts made by Japan’s Studio 4°C, Production I.G, and Madhouse, the same studios that worked on The Animatrix movie. If that doesn’t get you excited there’s more…
