Deadpool the Atomic kitten radiates nothing but cuteness

The staff of Atomic Comics in Chandler recently got to play savior to a lost baby kitty who got trapped in the walls of the store. Once it was determined the meowing that customers were hearing wasn’t coming from a toy, the animal was cut from the walls by Chandler Fashion Center maintenance.

An Atomic employee adopted the male cat, named Deadpool, pictured above in a photo from the Atomic Comics website. Personally, I think Sabertooth would have been a more appropriate moniker. But, what’s in a name?

Members of Fall Out Boy go Atomic to promote new comic

Members of the Grammy-nominated band Fall Out Boy will sign copies of their new comic book series Saturday at Atomic Comics’ Chandler Fashion Center location, 3155 w. Chandler Blvd. Pete Wentz and Andy Hurley are both comic book geeks, and they will meet with fans and sign copies of the premiere issue from 3 to 4 p.m.

Tyrese Gibson drops into Chandler’s Atomic Comics

Tyrese Gibson, aka Sgt. Epps in Transformers and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, will sign autographs and promote his new comic-book creation Mayhem! 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday at Atomic Comics, 3155 W. Chandler Blvd., Chandler.

You can get more information on this surprise event at the store’s Web site.

Talk about a true Renaissance man: actor, R&B singer-songwriter, rapper, model, MTV VJ and now comic book mogul. The book is about a gun-slinging vigilante who bears a striking resemblance to Gibson. Read the rest of this entry »

Atomic Comics goes Hollywood?

Kick-Ass comic book, written by Mark Millar, art by John Romita, Jr., published by Marvel Comics as part of that company’s Icon imprintThe movie adaptation of Kick-Ass, a comic book under Marvel’s Icon imprint, is filming now with stars Nicolas Cage, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Aaron Johnson and Dave Lizewski — and the Valley’s own Atomic Comics. Kitsune Robot: anime cover band debuts at Atomic Comics in Mesa

The anime cover band Kitsune Robot will perform in a free debut concert 7 p.m. next Friday, Sept. 12, at Atomic Comics, 1120 S. Country Club, No. 105, Mesa. That’s on the northwest corner of Country Club Drive and Southern Avenue.
