Nintendo establishes holiday beachhead at Chandler mall

Chandler is the only Arizona city to host the Nintendo Holiday Mall Experience, an interactive event running Nov. 23 through Dec. 20 that lets shoppers take some of the newest video game titles for a spin.

Starting Monday in the Sears Court at Chandler Fashion Center, you’ll be able to try Wii games like New Super Mario Bros Wii and Wii Fit Plus and DS games such as Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box and The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, which releases Dec. 7.

Nintendo rolls out its first free online demos

pokemon-rumble-logoWii owners who are connected to the Internet can now demo five WiiWare games for free online: BIT.TRIP BEAT, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a Darklord, NyxQuest: Kindred Spirits, World of Goo and Pokémon Rumble.

To try before you buy the full versions, go to the WiiWare section of the Wii Shop Channel and search for “Demo.”

‘Arkham Asylum’ demo is crazy good

batmanaaThe demo for Eidos’ ‘Batman: Arkham Asylum’ is out this week and it’s well worth giving a try. I’ve played through it twice and it’s a lot of fun. The demo shows Batman returning the Joker back to Arkham, only to find out it’s an elaborate trap set by the Clown Prince of Crime. Now the Dark Knight must battle his way through a gauntlet of thugs, psychopaths and his greatest foes to retake the most pourous prison in comics. It’s available for free on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 or PC, so you’ve got no excuse not to give it a try.
