Mankind’s inevitable overthrow by killer robots just got a little closer. The hand throwing and catching the cellphone is the scariest thing I’ve seen all day.

Cyberdyne, Inc., a Japanese company, has unveiled a robotic suit that amplifies the strength of the wearer by up to 10 times. There’s no clumsy joystick or difficult control schemes to master. All the wearer has to do is move normally. The “Hybrid Assistive Limb” or HAL works by detecting the trace electrical charges that are transmitted when a person moves. Once detected the robotic limb moves in concert with the real limb and prest-o: super-strength. The system can run between two and a half and five hours on a single charge. The two-leg version is available for a $2,300 monthly fee. Which seems to be a small price to pay for superpowers, given what most comic characters have to go through. While I’m not a big fan of the Wii, I AM a big fan of controlling giant robots. So I have to give this particular Wii project a thumbs up. Add a two-story tall body, some guns/missiles, perhaps the ability to transform into a jet and I’m totally onboard. Of course, this being a Nintendo product AND in Australia they’re probably not allowed to do anything cool or destructive with it. Still that’s got to be a fun way to spend an afternoon. I’m sure inventing THIS will never come back to haunt mankind when this FLYING GUN is used as a tool to subjugate humanity by sentient robots in the near future…. It’s supposed to be part of the much-vaunted missile defense system, but then again Skynet was supposed to help control nukes too and we all know how that worked out. On the bright side, now I know what I need for my birthday.
