untitled-1The creator of the virtual world Second Life is being sued yet again for trademark infringement. In April it was Scottsdale-based Taser suing Linden Labs over digital representations of its stun gun.

According to a complaint obtained by Massively, a Web site that covers online multiplayer roleplaying games, Scottsdale-based Taser International is suing the creator of the virtual world Second Life for trademark infringement.

It seems that virtual Taser lookalikes are being sold as gear for Second Life avatars, or in-game representations of players, and the stun-gun manufacturer is concerned about this as well as worried its brand will suffer in association with rampant virtual sex and virtual drug use.

The lawsuit against Linden Labs seeks significant damages — in excess of $75,000 or more — and was filed April 17 in U.S. District Court in Arizona.
