‘Sneak’ attack isn’t just for rogues anymore

One hundred and fifty people submitted footwear designs in the Dungeons & Dragons “Sell Your Sole” contest, and now it’s time to cast your vote to narrow the field down to 18 finalists.gridsneaker

Voting ends July 28 and winners will be announced Aug. 3. The victorious footwear artist will get $1,000 cash as well as a treasure horde of autographed D&D goodies.

Adidasw: All Day I Dream About ‘Star Wars’?

adidas_imgAdidas Originals is working with Lucasfilm to fuse iconic Star Wars characters and scenes with classic footwear and apparel silhouettes:

Inspired by the galactic saga, the Star Wars collection consists of limited edition as well as mass distribution footwear, apparel and accessories for men, women and kids. Classic adidas Originals track tops, and several legendary sneaker styles are represented with characters and scenes from the epic saga in reinterpreted versions.

Expect to see Darth Vader and stormtrooper graphics on select iconic Originals styles. Other key Star Wars characters and memorable moments from the films will also be represented in innovative, cool ways.

The spring/summer 2010 Star Wars collection will begin appearing at select retailers in January. There will also be a fall/winter 2010 line.

If you caught Albert Ching’s June 20 Tribune story “More men seeking sneakers for shoe collections,” you know that acquiring massive piles of footwear is big business and no longer just the realm of fashionistas and Philippine politicos.

So it should come as no surprise that when Nike goes “future-retro” and releases a limited-edition pair of sneakers based on the self-lacing shoes worn by Marty McFly in the 2015 world of Back to the Future II, they would go for as much as $2,000.
