Nintendo tweaks some stuff, says ‘What console war?’

Nintendo WiiLast week Microsoft announced a new round of price cuts for its Xbox 360 gaming console, right on the heels of Sony slashing the price of its PlayStation 3 and announcing a cheaper, slimmer model. But Nintendo, which has never budged on its Wii pricetag of $250, still refuses to play along despite flagging sales and lackluster game lineups.

Today the company announced an Oct. 4 launch date for Wii Fit Plus, the sequel to Wii Fit, as well as a black Wii Remote and Wii MotionPlus bundle and a black Nunchuk. Best use for a Wii, hands down.

While I’m not a big fan of the Wii, I AM a big fan of controlling giant robots. So I have to give this particular Wii project a thumbs up. Add a two-story tall body, some guns/missiles, perhaps the ability to transform into a jet and I’m totally onboard. Of course, this being a Nintendo product AND in Australia they’re probably not allowed to do anything cool or destructive with it. Still that’s got to be a fun way to spend an afternoon. Maybe there are some giant stuffed animals they can try to pick up and drop into a chute.
